Abstract Batik-style painting on tissue papers
Batik (pronounced “bah-teek”) is a form of Indonesian textile art in which wax is applied to cloth, then brightly coloured paint is applied. Once the paint is dry, the wax is removed, leaving a white imprint where the wax previously rested. The result is an exotic play of bright and dark space.
However, today at Chinesische Schule Berlin e.V. ( Chinese School Berlin) we have minimized the methods and applied the same batik technique on to tissue papers. Creating batik-style art on tissue papers is a fantastic way to introduce yourself to the technique with minimal investment in supplies.
