Art & Science Experiment Part II: Milk Painting!
Children explore the world of science through art with open-ended experiments. Hundreds of art activities amaze and delight children as they discover the magic of crystals, light, diffusion, plants, and more. A unique approach to learning basic science concepts.
Today we tried the classic Magic Milk science experiment using food coloring, soap and milk.
The science behind is that the molecules in the dish soap are attracted to the fat molecules in the milk. As soon as you introduce the soap to the milk/coloring mixture the molecules race around trying to bond. The food coloring gets pushed around in the process and appears to burst. Eventually the molecules all bond and the reaction stops.
